Palo Verde harbours Costa Rica's largest population of » jaguarundis, a brownish, small wild cat. 55 species of reptiles and amphibians are found, and the Tempisque river has the largest concentration of crocodiles in Costa Rica.
Boat safari on the Tempisque River, bordering the Palo Verde National Park, observing a great variety of wildlife such as iguanas, crocodiles, monkeys and many species of birds. After a hearty Costa Rican style lunch, we will visit the Guaitil pottery village, famous throughout Costa Rica and the rest of Central America for its pre-Columbian Chorotega style. After a guided panoramic tour, you will board your boat and pass on the Tempique River that borders the Palo Verde National Park, best known for its turbid waters and spectacular wetlands. Your naturalist guide will help you observe wildlife in the dry forest and mangrove vegetation. There are more than 600 different species of birds, both local and migratory. This tour is a real treat for birdwatchers, as you will have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of birds including storks, egrets, spoonbills, grebes and more. Also keep an eye out for monkeys, iguanas, scarlet macaws, anteaters, crocodiles and caimans, which can often be seen prowling along the riverbanks.
